W/B 7th Feb 14

I have been designing and planning test shoots that I may include within my final print of the magazine.
Last Friday I did a test shoot using raw meat as a heart combined with fake blood, a female body and high heels.
Here are some of the drawings I created prior to the shoot. They show the artistic yet harsh reality of heartbreak with influences from art, fashion and music. They show the physical pain you get in your chest - like someone has ripped your heart out and stepped on it.

I set up the studio myself which is why the lighting is not as clinical as I would have hoped. These four images have been edited and cropped. Though they look effective, I won't be using them in my final print because they will not flow with the other looks I want to shoot.

If I was to shoot again I would use stronger, more powerful looking stiletto heels, a real heart (pig heart from the butchers) and cleaner, more clinical lighting.
Doing this shoot, although I will not use it in my final, has shown me the direction which I am wanting to take with each chapter and look within my magazine.

  • Design more shoots - face charts, mood boards, model scouting and find a photographer
  • Choose next chapter and what it means, why I have chosen to do it
  • Pick the perfect location to reflect the mood and emotion
